Guarding, the oldest profession in the dog world?<\/h3>\n

We too often forget that one of the primary functions of a dog is to alert, protect, and deter\u2014probably its oldest profession. This instinct, when present, can be observed and reinforced, but cannot be invented.<\/p>\n

In a so-called working line, it is essential that this natural ability to monitor, sense danger, and react appropriately is not stifled.<\/p>\n

The watchdog<\/a> is therefore not a ring or sport dog: it is a dog that thinks, that acts on its own, without waiting for an order, but over which one can regain control at any time, that is distrustful of strangers, but reliable with the family.<\/p>\n
