Choosing the right line and breeding: an essential point?
A German Shepherd is not born by chance. The choice of breeding and the lineage is capital (see the section The German Shepherd / Comparison of lines) .
A good breeder doesn't sell a puppy; they build a relationship, guide, advise, and select. They know their dogs, their strengths, and their needs.

Choosing then means being guided, because among all puppies, not all are equal, even in a good litter: some will be calmer, others more nervous, more independent or closer to humans, dominant or submissive, suspicious or friendly. The role of the breeder is to observe, understand and guide the adopter towards the puppy that suits him.
