Guarding, a role in its own right!
The family guard dog is neither a sporting dog nor a police dog. It should not be confused with defense and protection. Its role is more subtle: the dog alerts, deters, and protects its territory with discernment, often completely autonomously.
Be careful! This is not an aggressive or fearful dog; most good guard dogs are very tolerant outside their territory. They have a strong defensive instinct and will try to deter any stranger from approaching and entering their territory.

This type of dog must not practice civil biting, which is prohibited in France. It also does not need to practice sporty bite, which is a game and should not be practiced outside of approved dog clubs.
It is not a question of making him a weapon, but a reliable, balanced, and safe protector with children as well as with legitimate visitors.
For this, selection is essential: lines adapted to this type of role, stable temperaments, well-marked territorial instinct.
Training should be considered a long-term strategy: reinforcing good behavior, exposing the individual to a variety of situations, and, above all, being guided by a specialist. This area is poorly understood, often confused with bite or protection training. Our breeding places a central place on this type of selection and education, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
Finally, If the dog lives outside on a large property, it is essential that it be accompanied: a male and female pair, well socialized, ensures both better deterrent effectiveness and emotional well-being. A dog alone, even a guard dog, can suffer from loneliness, which affects its behavior. It is obvious that the dog must in all cases have free access to an isolated and suitable shelter.
